After removing the posts, we were left with unstained areas where the posts were, as the picture above shows. A trip to Lowe's last night at 8:30 (yes, we are lame-os and spent our Saturday evening at Lowe's, but running into the H's was a sign that we aren't the only home improvement obsessed people this weekend!..but I digress...), so back to Lowe's. We went to pick out a stain to match the wood. Luckily there were some wood samples there to compare to, and we ended up picking English Oak.
We started sanding the ledge this morning. Here is a pic of Nate in action.
After sanding down the ledge, we stained it and voila! The stain was a perfect match!
We need to finish the ledge off with a coat of polyurethane, but need to let the stain dry for 24 hours.
The other projects we tackled this weekend will be featured for the remainder of the week. We were QUITE busy!
